Just finished another fantastic live online “New to Twitter” session today with @phylliskhare Technology, time management, everything!  @donnadeau

@phylliskhare – what a great twitter workshop!  @BeClear

“Phyllis’ workshop on Twitter was very good. The information was simple to understand, but the whole of what she taught was way more than I would have ever discovered by myself. Without her class and its emphasis on marketing, I would have missed a world of opportunities.”        B.G., Fairfield, Iowa

“Thanks for a wonderful workshop, I learned a lot, and I’ve already made some good contacts. And yes, it does help with the traffic to your website!”          ENH, Iowa

Got Kids? Grandkids? Great music kids love.

missphyllis-smallLong ago and far away – I was a children’s singer/songwriter. I traveled, performed hundreds of shows, taught songwriting classes in schools, and recorded two cassettes (you remember those – right?) and sold them all over the world.

Many, many years ago I re-mastered those cassettes into one CD. I have been selling that CD all over the world through CDBaby for as long as I can remember. Through the years the sales have shifted to more digital downloads, but you can still buy the actual CD.

cover2verysmallNow that I am a business consultant – with a social media focus – I only sing to myself as I type away on the computer….LA!!!!!! Wish you could hear me now. Anyway, enjoy the samples and go buy the CD and send it to your grandkids…I have two generations that have enjoyed this music – now it’s your turn.

By the way, some of the cute solos on this CD are from my son when he was five years old. He is now 26 and a fine writer. One of the people he writes for in his network created this music widget – check it out – very cool system and it even let me sign in with my Twitter ID and let me tweet the widget right within the workspace. VERY cool. http://3mix.com/

Answering the Call of the Universe

One of my favorite podcasts is Beach Walks with Rox“. Her short podcasts while walking on the beach in Hawaii have brightened up many an Iowa Winter day for this solo entrepreneur.

This particular video is a little different from her regular ones in that she is interviewing a very special woman. Usually she is by herself (with secret camera man) walking along the beautiful beach talking about things that interest her. Enjoy.

Installing “Love” on the Human Computer

Ok. Here it is – the latest Freeware

Installing “Love” on the Human Computer:

Technical Support: Yes, how can I help you?

Customer: Well, after much consideration, I’ve decided to install Love. Can you guide me through the process?

Tech Support: Yes. I can help you. Are you ready to proceed?

Customer: Well, I’m not very technical, but I think I’m ready. What do I do first?

Tech Support: The first step is to open your Heart. Have you located your Heart?

Customer: Yes, but there are several other programs running now. Is it okay to install Love while they are running?

Tech Support: What programs are running ?

Customer: Let’s see, I have Past Hurt, Low Self-Esteem, Grudge and Resentment running right now.

Tech Support: No problem, Love will gradually erase Past Hurt from your current operating system. It may remain in your permanent memory but it will no longer disrupt other programs. Love will eventually override Low Self-Esteem with a module of its own called High Self-Esteem. However, you have to completely turn off Grudge and Resentment. Those programs prevent Love from being properly installed. Can you turn those off ?

Customer: I don’t know how to turn them off. Can you tell me how?

Tech Support: With pleasure. Go to your start menu and invoke Forgiveness. Do this as many times as necessary until Grudge and Resentment have been completely erased.

Customer: Okay, done! Love has started installing itself. Is that normal?

Tech Support: Yes, but remember that you have only the base program. You need to begin connecting to other Hearts in order to get the upgrades.

Customer: Oops! I have an error message already. It says, “Error – Program not run on external components.” What should I do?

Tech Support: Don’t worry. It means that the Love program is set up to run on Internal Hearts, but has not yet been run on your Heart. In non-technical terms, it simply means you have to Love yourself before you can Love others.

Customer: So, what should I do?

Tech Support: Pull down Self-Acceptance; then click on the following files: Forgive-Self; Realize Your Worth; and Acknowledge your Limitations.

Customer: Okay, done.

Tech Support: Now, copy them to the “My Heart” directory. The system will overwrite any conflicting files and begin patching faulty programming. Also, you need to delete Verbose Self-Criticism from all directories and empty your Recycle Bin to make sure it is completely gone and never comes back.

Customer: Got it. Hey! My heart is filling up with new files. Smile is playing on my monitor and Peace and Contentment are copying themselves all over My Heart. Is this normal?

Tech Support: Sometimes. For others it takes awhile, but eventually everything gets it at the proper time. So Love is installed and running. One more thing before we hang up. Love is Freeware. Be sure to give it and its various modules to everyone you meet. They will in turn share it with others and return some cool modules back to you.

Customer: Thank you.

God: You’re welcome, anytime.

(another) Proud Mom Report

The Sharp Knife of Forced Simplicity Vol. 1 The Numinous Rebellion

alright…can’t help myself. My son (now 26) published his first book a couple of months ago. The Sharp Knife of Forced Simplicity. If you follow me on Twitter (phylliskhare)you probably got a rash of tweets around the last of February about it. I’m quietly (haha) telling him all I know about promotion and marketing. It’s really hard not to be the “Mom” while discussing strategic planning! Every Mom that reads this knows exactly what I’m talking about…yes?

Right now I’m sitting a few feet away while he signs his book in a local coffeehouse. Waves of people are coming in and buying and talking about the chapters that hit home the most. His book is definitely thought-provoking. He feels like he has a mission to shake up his generation a bit…and bascially destroy scarcity thinking.

A couple of weeks ago he spoke at a local university. Here’s a response:

Dear Ron,
I really want to complement you for your yesterday’s presentation! Very well done!I was siting at the very back, totally not into cooperation or collaboration, feeling very much under-the-weather (I’m back on my feet now) and was actually planning to stay only 10-15 minutes. BUT I was simply fascinated- not so much with what you had to say (I kind of know and agree with that already) but more with how you said it and your interaction with that specific audience.

I think you’re a gifted speaker because you took an uncommitted young audience and transformed them to become very interested in what you had to say. This is really skill in action!

Ron is a gifted speaker and this proud Mom is helping him put together his marketing for a college speaking tour. Any ideas are welcome! We have video in the editing cycle – look for new Proud Mom posts in the future. His video blog is really very funny – enjoy! http://forcedsimplicity.com/growingfreedom

Blog or Website or SciFi Morphed

internet-marketing3

The first thing I do with a new client is show them the power of the blog as compared to the traditional website. I think you’d be surprised how many small business STILL don’t get the power of the blog. Those of us immersed inside the ether-world of the Internet can’t imagine life without a blog, but we are a strange bunch – yes?

The blog is the engine that runs the Internet Marketing machine.

It feeds – and is feed by – the big four:

Twitter
Facebook
YouTube
Email system

I gave a presentation yesterday to a group of local small business owners. I polled the audience and was shocked to see that so many did not have a blog. I tried to impress upon them the importance of morphing their current website into a more blog-like structure or to incorporate a straight-up blog.

It seems to me that there are those who are embracing technology and those who are doing business the way they did 5 years agos. Having the five big systems in place (above) will at least ensure that you are riding the wave of the power of the Internet – and all the potential revenue it provides.

I have a new workshop starting in June for people new to Twitter. Four Saturdays in a row – either on-line or in my living room. I used to be a teacher – so I really enjoy the process of creating something new. I have a couple of seats open – especially online. It you (or someone you know) needs some direction with setting up Twitter, TweetDeck, TweetLater and TwitterFeed – send me their email address at phylliskhare@gmail.com Thanks!
